Sharp-Eyed Shomrim Member Spots Stolen Vehicle, Returned to Owner Following Chase

Two weeks ago, a vehicle was stolen from a Boro Park resident. This afternoon, following a dramatic chase, the vehicle was finally returned to its grateful owner.

The saga began when an eagle-eyed member of Shomrim spotted the stolen vehicle in the vicinity of 16th Avenue and 62nd Street. He noticed that one window was shattered, which helped him realize that it was indeed the stolen vehicle in question.

As NYPD sought to apprehend the driver, two suspects fled from the scene. Shomrim volunteers sent up a drone and spotted one suspect on top of a building and contacted the NYPD Emergency Response Unit who came to the scene and arrested the suspect.

The vehicle was subsequently returned to its owner.

This story comes on the heels of a report from the NYPD’s 66th Precinct's Commanding Officer in which he noted an uptick in grand larcenies of vehicles.
