As temperatures continue to drop to the 20s and 30s, in New York City, and gusts of wind pick up to travel at 50 miles per hour, the year’s first major snowfall is also expected on Wednesday.
Snow flurries are expected to start to fall on Wednesday afternoon and continue to blanket the city with snow by Thursday morning.
This week’s snowstorm could, in one day, exceed last winter’s total snowfall in New York City, when only 4.8 inches of snow fell in Central Park last year, the lowest seasonal total since 2001-2002.
Today, New York City’s Department of Sanitation issued a Winter Operations Advisory to warn of beautiful blizzards to come this week.
“Our snow fighting equipment will be ready for any winter weather coming our way,” tweeted the agency.
