Five-Alarm Fire Rages in Bensonhurst
By Yehudit Garmaise
A raging blaze that firemen are calling “a five-alarm fire,” meaning that it is quite severe and difficult to contain, continues to spread at 1am at a home that is located at 13th Ave. and 74th St., in the Bensonhurst area, right off Boro Park.
To respond to a five-alarm fire, which is the most severe, the New York Fire Department sends out 21 engine companies, 11 ladder companies, six battalion chiefs, and many other firefighters.
No injuries are reported at this time, however, the fire at the home continues to burn after a Boro Park Fire Department received a phone call just before 12am.
