Verrazano Bridge Under Construction Until Summer 2022
The Verrazano Bridge is beginning construction on its upper level this Friday, which will last until summer 2022, the Metropolitan Transit Authority announced Thursday.
Upper-level lane closures will only accrue during off-peak and overnight hours. During the weekday morning and afternoon rush hours, all lanes will remain open as usual.
From 6:00 am to 10:00 am, four Brooklyn-bound lanes will be under construction, and from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, four Staten Island-bound lanes will he under construction.
All lower level lanes will not be affected.
A new traffic pattern will be in place for the Monday morning rush hour.
This reconstruction project will replace the bridge’s structural steel and upper-level anchorage deck.
