De Blasio Nominates City Official to Fill Dormant Taxi Position
New York – Mayor Bill de Blasio nominated a longtime city official to head the dormant position heading the Taxi and Limousine Commission on Thursday.
Aloysee Heredia Jarmoszuk, the chief of staff to a deputy mayor, has played a central role in overseeing the city’s transportation policies, including implementing the controversial for-hire vehicle license cap and driver pay policy.
Jarmoszuk’s nomination will be submitted to the Council this month for its advice and consent, as required by the City Charter.
If confirmed, Jarmoszuk, whom the mayor called “one of the hardest working people in city government,” would be the first-ever Dominican-American to oversee the agency.
