Daylight Saving Begins Motzei Shabbos, Springing Forward an Hour

    At 2am on March 14, Motzei Shabbos, clocks will spring ahead for Daylight Saving Time.

     As clocks are pushed ahead one hour early Sunday morning, readers should remember also to adjust their Shabbos timers for next week. In addition, Daylight Saving Time is a great time to test and change the batteries in detectors for smoke and carbon monoxide.

     In 1916, many European countries began observing Daylight Savings Time to conserve fuel during World War I. Almost two years later, most of the United States adopted the time changes to prolong summer's daylight hours.
