Tens of Thousands of Dollars Worth of Merchandise Stolen From 13th Ave. Stores Over Yom Tov

The NYPD is investigating a crime spree that resulted in the loss of thousands of dollars from three small business on 13th Avenue over the last days of Pesach.

This morning at 7am, police called Shelia, the owner of Sheila’s Wigs, which is located at 4417 13th Ave., to tell her some bad news.

“Thieves have broken into your business,” the NYPD told Sheila, who said with despair that 15,000 wigs that were worth more than $100,000 was stolen and between $2,000 and $3,000 of cash was taken from the register. “Maybe it was more, who knows? I have to make the chesbon still.

“It’s terrible. I needed the money to pay my rent.”

Sheila said she is not sure exactly when her store was robbed.

“We were in the holiday [the past two days],” she said. “This morning we came right away into the store.

“They took everything here. My whole closet and all these drawers are empty. The police are coming to get fingerprints.”

Sheila, who filed a police report, also reported that perpetrators also broke into an upstairs dentist's office, which had a machine and cash stolen. In addition, a cash register was stolen from Borough Park Variety Store, which is downstairs from Sheila's Wigs.
