Readers write: Crossing Safely

Dear editor,

As all readers know, the streets in Boro Park are now busy and bustling before Yom Tov, with cars and people wherever one looks.

We all hear about the car accidents that happen rachmunah l’tzlon, between cars, between cars and pedestrians, and something needs to change. As a driver, I see every day how many people cross the street without properly checking for vehicles. Kids especially tend to just run into the street without realizing that a car is coming towards them.

I’m begging parents everywhere to please teach their kids how to cross safely. So many accidents can be avoided if pedestrians would just stop for a second and look both ways before stepping into the street, especially when the streets are as busy as they are right now.

Thank you, and may we hear only simchas!

A Boro Park Driver
