Although Boro Parkers who voted first thing this morning at 4211 14th Ave. found the emergency ballot box for mail-in votes to be broken and one voting machine to be locked up and not in use, the NYC Board of Elections fixed the problem by 8:11am, City Councilman Kalman Yeger tweeted.
An emergency ballot drop box provides a secure and convenient location for voters to return their mail-in ballots from the time they receive them in the mail, up to the time polls close tonight at 9pm.
When one neighborhood voter asked a poll worker when the voting machines would be available up and running, she responded nervously, “When [the machine is back up, we will stand the ballots there,”
“That is something that has to happen. We don’t just set them to the side.”
