Daylight Saving Begins Motzei Shabbos, Springing Forward an Hour

New York – Americans will be losing an hour of sleep when the clock springs forward an hour on Motzei Shabbos. It will gain it back when the clock falls back in November. Daylight savings was begun in the 1970s to take advantage of daylight hours to save electricity.
