President Trump Wants a Recount in Wisconsin: a Key Swing State

In a razor-thin margin, President Trump slightly trails Democratic challenger Joe Biden in Wisconsin, where Trump currently has 48.8% of the vote, and Biden has 49.4.

Wisconsin, which Trump famously won by the extremely slim margin of 22,748 votes of 2016, offers 10 electoral college votes.

 More people than ever voted by absentee ballot because of the COVID pandemic, but many report that absentee ballots tend to be cast more often by Democrats, so many Republicans fear that as the absentee ballots trickle into the swing states, a disproportionate amount of them will be for Biden.

  In fact, the absentee ballots that were cast in Milwaukee County, the largest county in Wisconsin, that trickled in early Wednesday morning provided Biden with a narrow lead of 11,000 votes.

The results of the absentee ballots from Green Bay and Kenosha, two other cities that usually lean left, have yet to be released.

  Although the large amount of mail-in absentee ballots that are now being counted are completely legal, President Trump is referring to the mail-in votes as “ballot dumps” and questioning their legitimacy they give Biden a small lead.

    “How come every time they count Mail-In ballot dumps they are so devastating in their percentage and power of destruction?” Trump tweeted.

   Bill Stepien, Trump’s campaign manager, is blaming not the mail-in ballots, but “ridiculous public polling that is used as a voter suppression tactic.”

   Stepien also reported “irregularities in several Wisconsin counties which raise serious doubts about the validity of the results.

 “The President is well within the threshold to request a recount, and we will immediately do so.”

  In Wisconsin, if a race is within 1% point, the trailing candidate can force a recount.
