We are saddened to inform of the passing of Reb Leibel Rubin A”h, a pillar of the Bobov community who laid bricks in every large project in Boro Park and beyond to help build a home for the thousands of Chasidim.
Many Boro Park’ers are familiar with the Heichel Hatorah built by Reb Leibel, called Mishnas Yonah, one of the first of its kind, where hundreds step foot every day to learn and study in a beautiful local, a room that lifted the atmosphere of Torah in Boro Park.
Reb Leibel, a close Chusid of the previous Bobov’er Rebbe, the Divrei Shloime Ztz”l, grew extremely close and was among the most dedicated followers of the Rebbe Shlit”a.
He’s been at the forefront of every project in Bobov, extending his reach far beyond just the Boro Park Mosdos and organizations.
Reb Leibel A”h, a quiet and humble person, used to learn B’chavrusa with the previous Ger’er Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Dovid Alevsky Z”l, and spent most of his extra time learning and studying Torah.
He is survived by his wife, who stood as a steadfast partner in all his endeavors, and his children who are sure to carry his legacy forward.
Over recent months Reb Leibel battled the Bitere Machle R”l, and went through periods of pain, but never lost his steadfast Emunah, and beacon of hope. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 73 on Thursday night.
The Levaya will be taking place at 9:45am outside the Bobover Shul on 15th Avenue.
