BDE: Rav Yosef Bokchin z"l

Boro Park - We are saddened to inform of the petira of Rav Yosef Bokchin, a descendant of the Gerrer rebbes who was renowned as a tremendous talmid chacham and yerei shamayim. He was 70.

Reb Yosef, who suffered from the coronavirus, lived in Boro Park. He was a devoted chassid of the Gerrer rebbes, a businessman who spent the main part of his day absorbed in Torah. He know vast amounts of every part of Torah and served as a role model for hasmada and bekius.

Reb Yosef was a son of Rav Tuvia Bokchin z"l, and was from the first American bochurim to travel to Eretz Yisroel in the early days of the Bais Yisroel's leadership to bask in his light.

He later married Sarah Levin, a daughter of Rav Leibel, the son of Rav Itche Meir Levin. Rav Itche Meir was a son-in-law of the Imrei Emes of Gur zt"l.

Reb Yosef caught the coronavirus and was niftar on Tuesday afternoon.
