BDE: R’ Ephraim Zalman Steinwurtzel, z”l

It is with deep sadness that we report on the petirah of Reb Ephraim Zalman Steinwurtzel, z”l, a beloved, longtime mechanech in the community. He was 59 years of age and had battled a bitter machlah in recent years. 

The niftar was the son of Haga’on Rav Moshe Duvid Steinwurtzel, the Rosh Yeshiva of the Bobover yeshiva. He was the son-in-law of Rav Spiegel of Cedarhurst, the Ostrov-Kaloshiner Rebbe, shlit”a. 

He served as a longtime Rebbi in Yeshiva Torah Temimah, where he was beloved by students and faculty alike, and was renowned for his fire and simchas hachaim. Later, he taught at Yeshiva Mevakshei Hashem, where he was likewise respected and beloved. 

For many years, he served as the Rov of the Schrome Manor nursing home, where he cared deeply for the needs of the residents and became part of their lives. 

He was niftar this afternoon following a valiant battle with a bitter illness. 

Together with, tbl”ch, his wife, he established beautiful Torah generations who will continue in his ways. 

The levaya will take place this evening at 9:00 at the Lelover Beis Medrash, 1830 50th Street.
