24 New Yorkers, including NYPD officers, Rescued from Industry City Elevator Plunge

First responders just rescued two dozen New Yorkers who were briefly trapped in a freight elevator that fell several feet in Industry City, which its website describes as “a vibrant, creative hub along the scenic waterfront of Sunset Park.”

The elevator, which was packed with office workers, US Marshals, and NYPD officers, was stuck in the commercial complex’s Building Six, which is located at 34 34th St.

The group remained mostly unharmed, although one elevator passenger: an NYPD officer, who reported minor back pain, was taken to NYU Langone in Sunset Park, a police spokesperson said.

Firefighters responded to the emergency call shortly after 10 am and releasing the group half an hour later, an FDNY spokesperson told the Brooklyn Paper.
