Masbia Holds Day of Service Honoring Martin Luther King

Boro Park – Marking Martin Luther King Day, a group of frum Jews and African-Americans came together on Monday to volunteer at the Masbia soup kitchen. Elected officials and law enforcement officers served food and distributed packages at the kosher food pantry in a show of unity in response to recent events. The volunteers restocked the shelves with emergency food.

Alexander Rapaport, Masbia’s executive director, made an announcement about a portal on the pantry’s website detailing how to send relief supplies directly to Puerto Rico, which is suffering the aftereffects of several earthquakes.

Attending was Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein of Boro Park, Councilman Kalman Yeger, Rockland County Legislator Aron Wieder, NYPD Deputy Chief Inspector Charles Scholl and Avi Greenstein, the CEO of the Boro Park Jewish Community Council.
