FDNY reminds all New Yorkers to change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms when they change their clocks for the end of Daylight Saving Time.
“70% of all fatal fires in New York City occur in homes that do not have a working smoke alarm present,” said Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro. “Smoke alarms are life saving devices – and having a working smoke alarm dramatically increases your chance of survival from a fire.”
