After announcing his retirement on Monday, outgoing NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill is headed to Visa, the financial services corporation, for his next gig.
O’Neill has been recruited by the company to be the head of global security, making him responsible for protecting the company’s personnel and assets across the world.
The commissioner will be leaving his current job at the end of November, when he will be replaced by Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea, and he will start at Visa beginning in December.
“Visa is very excited to have James O’Neill joining Visa as our Global Head of Physical Security,” said Lewis Love, Visa’s senior vice president for Global Corporate Services and O’Neill’s new boss.
“There is no higher priority at Visa than the safety and security of our people and assets. His decades-long expertise in law enforcement, investigations and operations makes him an outstanding choice for this critical area for Visa.”
