Woman Attacked in Attempted Robbery in Front of TD Bank in Monticello

By Chana Weinman

A Boro Park resident was attacked by a would-be robber who tried to make off with her pocketbook in front of TD Bank in Monticello, where she went to make a deposit.

While attempting to retain her grip on her pocketbook, the victim was thrown to the ground. In the meantime, a passing driver, noting the attack, pulled to a stop and ran over to render aid.

The mugger ran off without the pocketbook, but her victim was left seriously injured. When the frum driver saw a policeman in the area and requested assistance, the officer said he could not take a report as he was in the middle of an investigation.

The woman was initially treated by Catskills Hatzolah and subsequently transported in stable condition to KJ Hatzolah to Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan, where she will need surgery for multiple fractures.

The incident is presently under investigation by the New York State Police and Monticello Police Department.
