With 10 Days to Lag Ba’omer, Current Outline Announced by Government

Following a successful vaccination drive,
b’chasdei Hashem, and a sharp drop in cases, life in Eretz Yisroel is fast
returning to normal. As has been previously announced, the government will not
limit the number of people allowed into Meron for the hillula, as it has last
year.
This came on the heels of heated negotiations on the part of many, even as some in the ministries had sought to restrict the numbers of people being allowed to attend.
However, there will be some restrictions on the gatherings at the actual bonfire lighting sites atop the mountain. Also, although generous serving of food—known as the great segulah of Chai Rottel—is a part of the Lag Ba’omer celebration, only snacks and beverages will be allowed at the lighting areas, while more elaborate catering will be allowed in surrounding areas.
The MK’s who have been involved in lobbying
for the full celebration to go on as usual have expressed satisfaction with the
plan.
