78 windows were smashed on 36 trains, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
This affected seven subway lines in multiple New York City boroughs, including the suspension of the W line, and the curtailing of service on the B, D, Q and R lines.
New York City Transit President Richard Davey vowed to find the vandals. "I don't know of a place that has more cameras than a Las Vegas casino than we do,” he said. “This is, in no uncertain terms, outrageous. We will find you, we will to catch you, we’re going to throw the book at you. It’s not just an inconvenience for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers.”
Davey estimated that the repair work could cost the city around $500,000.
