Want to Change your Political Party? You have until 5pm on Feb. 14

Registered voters who have accounts with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) can update their party affiliations online through the DMV’s website: but only until 5pm today.
New Yorkers without DMV accounts can submit their updated paper forms to their local Board of Elections offices until 5pm on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
New Yorkers who need to submit completely new voter registration forms have until June 17, 2023, if they want to register for the June 27 primary elections for City Council members: all of whom, as well as some civil court judges citywide, are up for election this year.
Voters may want to change their party affiliations because voters are only allowed to vote in parties’ primaries for which they are registered.
