Veterans Day in NYC: Closures and Schedule Changes

By BoroPark24 Staff

New York City will observe Veterans Day on Monday, November 11, honoring those who served in the U.S. military. The holiday will bring a mix of closures, schedule changes, and events across the city.

Here’s what to expect:

School and Office Closures: Public schools, government offices, post offices, and DMV locations will be closed on Monday.

Financial and Library Services: Banks, including the New York Stock Exchange, will be closed for the day, along with New York Public Library branches.

Public Transportation: MTA trains and buses will run on a regular weekday schedule. The New York Waterway ferry will also operate as usual, with a special perk for veterans who can ride for free.

Sanitation Services: No trash, recycling, or compost collection will take place on Monday. If Monday is your regular pickup day, be sure to place your items out Monday evening for Tuesday collection.

Parking: Alternate Side Parking rules will be suspended on Veterans Day, though other parking rules and meters will still apply.

New Yorkers are encouraged to join the city in honoring veterans and to plan their day with these changes in mind.
