Verizon Fios Service Currently Down, Technicians Working to Repair

Verizon Fios has been experiencing an outage that has interrupted many users’ phone service since 11 am.
The outage, which is disallowing access to websites and causing the Internet to operate too slowly to use properly, is the result of a “fiber cut” that was found in Brooklyn.
Fiber cuts, which are accidental breaks in the network of optical fibers, are typically caused by new construction in the area. The telecommunication companies that laid the first fibers are more subject to fiber cuts than the new companies, which placed their cables into gas pipelines and other passageways that better protect the fibers.
Verizon is not sure when service will resume in Brooklyn, on Twitter, the company reports that technicians are working to resolve the outage as quickly as possible.
