Unrelated Discovery Near Verrazano Amid Search for Boating Victim

As authorities continued searching for a missing passenger from Sunday’s fatal boating accident, a woman’s body was recovered near the Staten Island side of the Verrazzano Bridge on Monday afternoon, according to the FDNY.
Police say the recovery is unrelated to the boating accident which claimed three lives. The Coast Guard had been searching for a missing passenger from that incident but announced it has suspended its search for 52-year-old Vernon Glasford, a Bronx man who was aboard the overturned boat.
The search had been focused about five miles southeast of the accident. Two survivors were taken to local hospitals, with one still in critical condition.
