Trump Sends Letter to Jersey City Cheder Praising Kids’ ‘Resiliency’

Jersey City – President Trump penned an emotional letter to the cheder of Jersey City, praising the children’s heroic reaction as a daylong gun battle blasted below their window two months ago.

“It is heartbreaking to hear your firsthand account about the many lives that have been affected by the inexcusable and abhorrent act of evil that took place in your community,” Trump wrote in a letter addressed to Rabbi Lazer Breuer of the cheder.
The children had written letters to the president, who had condemned the attack as it was occurring. Three civilians were killed in the supermarket attack — Mrs. Leah Mindel Ferencz who owned it, Moshe Hersh Deutsch, a customer, and employee Douglas Miguel Rodriguez. Det. Joseph Seals was killed earlier in a shootout with the assailants.

The letter from the children, which is dated Jan. 9, bemoaned the murder which, they said, happened “for no reason.” They thanked Trump for sending a State Department delegation to the shiva.
“Our country is not only great, it is the greatest!” they wrote.

Trump commended the community’s rebounding, saying that “despite the tragedies your communities has endured, your determination to rebuild so quickly in the wake of these horrific acts embodies the resiliency of the American spirit.”
“Your ability to come together as one during a time of grief, anger, and uncertainty is an important reminder that the bind of faith, family, and country are stronger than any challenge we face.”
The community celebrated a milestone this week in their efforts at rebuilding when the grocery that was the epicenter of the attack reopened.
