Tropical Storm Josephine Forms and Collapses Before Ever Hitting NY

Tropical Storm Josephine formed in the Atlantic Thursday only to hit north of the Caribbean Islands.

At this time, there is no threat to New York or anywhere else along the U.S. east coast.

Sustained winds have increased to almost 45 mph and extend outward up to 80 miles of the north center.

The National Hurricane Center expects additional wind strength over the next 48 hours.

Josephine is short-lived but beats Tropical Storm Jose, which swelled up in the Atlantic Basin in August of 2005.
