Tonight: See 2025’s Wolf Moon

By Idy Perl

2025’s Wolf Moon will be on full display in the night sky between Monday, January 13, until Wednesday, January 15th.

What is a Wolf Moon, you ask? A Wolf Moon is the first full moon of the year, or January’s full moon, and is named after the wolves who tend to howl during the night in the winter.

This year the Wolf Moon has a special bonus, as Mars was visible as a tiny red dot right under and to the left of the moon on January 13th and will be on top and to the right of the moon on January 14th. Mars appears much smaller than the moon as it is an astonishing 140 million miles away from Earth, while the moon is “only” 238,900 miles away.
