Sure and Brut Deodorant Sprays Recalled due to Detected Benzene

Sure and Brut deodorant sprays are being recalled due to detected high levels of benzene, a cancer-causing chemical.
The FDA advises consumers who have the affected sprays to stop using the products and discard them appropriately.
"While benzene is not an ingredient in any of the
recalled products, our review showed that unexpected levels of benzene came
from the propellant that sprays the product out of the can,” the product
marketers said.
Classified as a human carcinogen, benzene can be inhaled or
absorbed through skin, resulting in cancers including leukemia, as well as
life-threatening blood disorders, the recall stated.
The following products, with an expiration date on or before August 2023, are affected by the recall:
· Brut Classic Antiperspirant Aerosol (4 oz) (UPC 00827755070085)
·
Brut
Classic Antiperspirant Aerosol (6 oz) (UPC 000827755070108)

· Sure Unscented Antiperspirant Aerosol (6.0 oz) (UPC 00883484002278)
Recently, numerous products, including shampoos, conditioners, and sunscreens were recalled due to Benzene.
Widely used in manufacturing, benzene is present throughout the environment and can cause cancer with repeated exposure, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In light of the recall, the old issue with antiperspirant deodorant, in general, resurfaces. Several sources claim that the odor-fighting chemicals in spray deodorant, including aluminum and parabens, are linked to certain diseases. Environmentalists are also wary of these products due to the harmful toxins they release into the air.
