Squatter Arrested After House Fire

Squatter Arrested After House Fire

By Idy Perl

NYPD officers arrested a suspect with an open warrant after he was found squatting in an abandoned home.

The suspect was one of a few squatters who had moved into a home on 9th Avenue and 53rd St. These squatters had been an ongoing issue in the neighborhood, with reports of package thefts occurring frequently outside homes in the area.

On Sunday, a fire broke out in the house, which brought the fire department and NYPD to the home, where they arrested the perp.

This is yet another story, like the one reported here, of squatters taking over homes and leaving the rightful owners without any means to get them out, which often results in damage to the home and financial loss to the owners.
