Spike in Coronavirus Cases Linked to Travelers

On Wednesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio confirmed that 20 percent of new coronavirus cases are linked to travelers.
The city has put up checkpoints at major bridges and tunnels to stop cars and integrate them about their whereabouts randomly. The New York Sheriff’s Department has so far halted 3,000 vehicles.
Travelers coming from 31 states with a high coronavirus infection rate are required to quarantine for 14 days.
De Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo are concerned about a second wave reaching New York through other states.
