Rubashkin Family to Livestream Musical Zos Chanukah Celebration of Miracles

By Yehudit Garmaise

Tonight at 8pm, AlephBeisGimmel, an organization, and website founded by the family of Rav Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, is live streaming a musical and inspirational event that celebrates the anniversary of his early release from Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in Mount Hope.

Three years ago on the last night of Chanukah, Rabbi Rubashkin’s 28-year sentence was unexpectedly cut short by 19 and half years by President Donald Trump, who commuted the sentence much thought to be excessive for white collar crime.

After the 10 children of Rav Rubashkin and his wife Leah felt that their parents had so effectively led the family in making daily positive attitude adjustments that allowed for Hashem to make miracles occur, the family wanted to teach K’lal Yisroel to do the same and give back to and strengthen all the Yidden who supported the family so much through what they call “their saga.”

“A lot of times people get down in the dumps about whatever tzara they are going through,” said Yosef Rubashkin, a son of Rav Rubashkin, “and then they just exaggerate everything that is going on in their minds. They focus on the negative.

“Instead, we can think, ‘Hashem is with me.

“’I am in a tzara, Hashem wants me to go through this for whatever reason, and it is going to bring out the best in me. What can I learn?

The Rubashkins’ program will be live-streamed tonight at AlephBeisGimmel.com/event and broadcast on the Kol Mevaser Hotline, which is at (212) 444-1100 and on the Chazak Hotline (845) 678-8889. At 8pm, Avraham Fried, Benny Friedman, Shlomie Gertner, and Yaakov Schwekey will perform.

Then, at 9pm, Rav Sholom Mordechai, Rabbi Pinchos Lipschutz, Rabbi Yitzchok Hisiger will lead a discussion that aims to help Yidden to face their own challenge with emunah and bitachon. Viewers can submit questions to be included in the discussion tonight via email to [email protected] or by text to 347-853-4683.
