Excitement reverberated through the streets of New York as the esteemed Rosh Yeshivah, Reb Shaul Alter, touched down yesterday for a highly anticipated visit from Eretz Yisroel.
Yidden across the city eagerly awaited the chance to bask in his presence, drawing inspiration just in time for the upcoming yom tov of Shavuous. This is the Rosh Yeshivah’s fourth visit to New York in as many years, with his first visit having been three years ago.
The Rosh Yeshivah’s first stop was at the Kollel Pnei Menachem, to share words of chizuk with the hundreds of yungerleit who sit and learn there. Today, on Thursday, the Rosh Yeshivah will visit the cheder Yagdil Torah on 18th Avenue.
This evening, at 8:30PM, the Rosh Yeshivah will deliver a shiur on Shavuous in the Eminence Hall for thousands of chassidim and talmidei chachumim, which is sure to inspire all those who attend.
On Friday, the Rosh Yeshivah will visit the talmidim of the yeshivah katana Pnei Menachem and will then deliver a shiur there for the talmidim and chassidim who wish to join.
The highlight of the visit will be the Shabbos the Rosh Yeshivah will spend together with his chassidim. The davening and shalish seudas will take place in “The Palace’s” spacious ballroom to accommodate all the chassidim who will join. Chassidim are most looking forward to the shalosh seudas, which will be a special event full of warm singing and divrei torah.
For shacharis on Sunday morning the Rosh Yeshivah will daven at the new Pnei Menachem shtibel in Staten Island, which was recently established as a chassidish shul in the newly settled community. Sunday afternoon the Rosh Yeshivah will depart to Chicago, where he will spend two days with the community there and fundraise for the yeshivos. Sunday evening the Rosh Yeshivah will deliver a shiur in Kollel Zichron Eliyahu for the residents of Chicago. Monday evening he will join a community event in the Agudas Yisroel shul, at which Rabbi Avraham Schorr will speak, followed by the Rosh Yeshivah who will talk about the chashivas of Shavuous and torah learning.
With hearts uplifted and spirits ablaze, the New York community eagerly anticipates this special week spent in the presence of Rosh Yeshivah R’ Shaul Alter, cherishing every moment of inspiration and guidance he brings.
