Revel Users Disregard New Safety Precautions

Revel Riders continue to ride without helmets after the company was only allowed to return to New York City on condition they made wearing one mandatory.
After the company faced three ridership fatalities in the span of ten days in July, the city shut them down.
To return, Revel had to add a handful of safety features. In particular, they made it mandatory for every rider to snap a selfie of themselves in a helmet before riding.
Revel launched in New York City in 2018 but only gained popularity in March after the coronavirus's start.
On Wednesday, the city's transit chief admitted that people are disregarding the newly added regulations.
Department of Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg told city council members that the companies' return reports are mixed and specified that she is getting sent pictures of people not wearing helmets.
A Revel rep assured that the company is working on continuing to ensure top street safety.
Trottenberg said she is going to meet up with Revel executives on Friday.
