Revel Suspends NYC Service Following Series of Crashes

Revel, a motorized scooter company, has suspended their New York City service due to an excessive amount of accidents and the death of two riders.

A 32-year old man was killed after losing control of a Revel moped and hitting an electric pole in Queens, two weeks earlier a woman was killed in a similar crash.

Revel posted to Twitter Tuesday, “starting today NYC service will be shut down until further notice. We’re reviewing and strengthening our rider accountability and safety measures and communicating with city officials, and we look forwards to serving you again in the near future.”

They have also notified users of new safety features and suspended more than 2,000 riders over the past six weeks.

Cuomo’s press secretary and the Department of Motor Vehicles told CBS2 that regulations need to be made but it is in the hands of the city.
