By Yehudit Garmaise

Motorcyclist Wu Xiang, who had been riding down 9th Ave, died of his wounds on Dec. 21, two months after being hit by a 2015 Dodge Charger that was driven by 30-year-old Heron Valdez, who ran a red light on 46th Street, BoroPark24 reported on Oct. 18, when the accident occurred.

Since the collision, Mr. Xiang, who was 42 and lived in Brooklyn, had been at Maimonides Medical Center, where Emergency Medical Services took him after police officers found him lying on 46th Street with trauma to his head.

Police officers have arrested, charged, and taken into custody Mr. Valdez, after the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that he was driving dangerously, drove through a red light and with the front of his car, struck Mr. Xiang, who was thrown onto the hood of Mr. Valdez’s car and then fell to the ground, knocked unconscious.

Mr. Valdez, who also lives in Brooklyn, has been charged with attempted reckless endangerment, attempted assault, attempted reckless driving, attempted motor vehicle failure to yield to pedestrian or bicyclist causing injury, red light violation, and attempted failure to exercise due care.
