Readers Write: Is Boro Park Being Dug Up – All at Once?

Dear BoroPark24,

In recent months, and especially in the past few weeks, Boro Park has seen an overwhelming amount of roadwork across the neighborhood. From Hallen to Green Infrastructure projects, one thing is clear: our infrastructure is now a maze of construction zones.

Let’s assume all this work is necessary, but why does it all have to happen at the same time? Why aren’t residents properly informed in advance? Why not distribute a calendar for the public or/and through BoroPark24 etc.?

Meanwhile, our already limited parking situation has worsened, with hundreds of spaces taken away - not just for days, but for weeks and even months on certain streets. And with multiple roads under construction simultaneously, traffic and parking chaos have reached new heights.  Now, during the Erev Pesach season, when our streets are more needed than ever and the neighborhood is even more crowded, this situation is especially frustrating.

Even more frustrating is the complete lack of coordination between agencies and utility companies. Time and again, we see one company finish their work, pave the road nicely - only for another crew to arrive the very next day and tear it all up again as if the previous work never happened. Shouldn’t the DOT be ensuring better planning?

Are we living in a third-world country? It’s disheartening to witness bureaucracy and dysfunction at their peak.

I hope this issue is addressed properly because I believe I’m not just speaking for myself, I’m speaking for thousands of frustrated residents.
