We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Yitzchok Fink, a longtime Boro Park resident, and the proprietor of the famed “Fink’s Press” on 16th Avenue. He was 104 years of age, and had survived the Holocaust through tremendous miracles.

The niftar hailed from Sanok—a town steeped in history and thriving Jewish life which was once led by Rav Meir Shapiro of Lublin.

He was born in the year 1920 in the town of Sanok, Galicia. His father was Reb Eliyahu Tzvi, an ardent chassidishe Yid, and his maternal grandfather was Reb Zvi Rauch, was a renowned and respected askan in the town. He was the treasurer of the Talmud Torah, and was one of the distinguished baalei batim in his Bais Medrash. He sat on the Mizrach wall next to the aaron kodesh and was the baal tefilla during the Yomim Noraim. A Bukowsker chasid, he supported his family by running both a grocery and textile store.

This idyllic life came to a crashing halt with the invasion of the Nazis in the fall of 1939. Reb Yitzchok experienced incredible miracles in his escape.

In the introduction to his memoir, Reb Yitzchok wrote: “This is the story of my youth, a story I decided to tell for two reasons: First, I thought that it would be of interest to members of my family, and second, so that the future generations can learn about the importance of Hashgacha Pratis. It seemed that whenever I was in harm’s way, the Ribono Shel Olam immediately intervened and saved me. To this day, I am not sure why I was zocheh to what I can only describe as miracles. This is especially puzzling as so many millions of Jews suffered such a terrible fate.”

After the war, he married and established a beautiful Torah family of which he was the beloved and admired patriarch until his passing this morning.

The Levaya will take place at 12:30 this afternoon at Shomrei Hadas. To watch it live click here.
