Prospect Park Zoo Announces Opening Date

By Idy Perl
Last week, as reported here, Prospect Park Zoo hinted on social media that they will be reopening the zoo in time for summer after incurring damage during a flood eight months ago.
The zoo announced today that they will be reopening for Memorial Day weekend, on Saturday, May 25. There will be fun programs and special activities in the zoo to celebrate the reopening.
In addition, the zoo announced that there are some new animals to meet, including two young baboons, Bandari and Nyani, and Pinnelopi, the porcupette.
"We've been working diligently behind the scenes to repair the flood damage caused by Tropical Storm Ophelia," they wrote in an email containing the official announcement. "Although the zoo was temporarily closed, our animals have been faring well, and we've been providing regular updates on their progress via social media. Now, it's finally time to reconnect with the animals you love."
"Please remember that guests must reserve a date-specific ticket in advance," they added.
