Pressure from Advocates for Zero-Emissions School Buses

YS Gold

A group of advocates gathered in City Hall Park to put pressure on the city for zero-emissions school buses. They noted that one in four buses was found idling in front of New York City schools, and cited the cardiovascular and respiratory issues that this can cause.

This comes following a report released by the advocacy group Electrify NYC entitled “Wake up and smell the fumes,” all about the harmful effects of these emissions.

Governor Kathy Hochul has pledged, through her Environmental Bond Act, to have zero-emissions buses on the roads by 2035.
