Hours after White House officials confirmed that Hope Hicks, one of President Donald Trump’s closest aides, tested positive for coronavirus, sending the both the president and the first lady into quarantine, the Trumps’ tests revealed they were positive as well.

The Trumps’ diagnosis is likely to further intensify criticism for what some see as his cavalier approach toward coronavirus precautions, politico.com reported.

Although, as President Trump pointed out in Tuesday's debate, he holds campaign rallies outside, which are seemingly safer, however those rallies also feature large crowds of supporters, most of whom are not socially distanced and wearing masks.

In addition, President Trump has resumed indoor campaign events, even though health officials advise against crowded enclosed spaces.

“The president takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously,” White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement to Bloomberg News. “White House Operations collaborates with the physician to the President and the White House Military Office to ensure all plans and procedures incorporate current CDC guidelines and best practices for limiting Covid-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible, both on complex and when the president is traveling.”
