Powering Up: Solar Energy Takes Over the Brooklyn Army Terminal

Sunset Park Solar is bringing clean, affordable energy directly to Sunset Park residents. With solar panels installed on the rooftop of the Brooklyn Army Terminal, this project will power 150 local households, saving them $1.24 million on their energy bills. 

A collaboration between NYCEDC, UPROSE, and Working Power, it's designed to cut emissions, lower costs, and put control in the hands of the community. Residents will also gain jobs in the green economy, while revenue from the project funds future initiatives.

This might be related to the climate initiative Mayor Eric Adams announced back in March. The city’s Economic Development Corporation- which manages the Brooklyn Army Terminal took on projects to turn Sunset Park into a center for clean tech innovation and manufacturing.

Sunset Park Solar is leading the way for other neighborhoods in the push for sustainable.
