Poll Results: Pesach Expenses Are Overwhelming for Most This Year

By Y.M. Lowy

As Pesach looms close, the financial pressure associated with Yom Tov becomes increasingly real. A recent poll conducted by BoroPark24, Williamsburg365, Rockland Daily, and Daily Monroe sheds light on the struggles that families are currently facing during this challenging time.

One of the most striking findings from the survey reveals that nearly half of the respondents, an alarming 48%, admit they have no clear plan for covering the expenses associated with Pesach. This statistic goes beyond the dry numbers, it reflects the real struggle that many families are facing as the cost of living continues to rise.

Sixteen percent of respondents replied that, despite their financial difficulties, they are determined to save money throughout the year to make the Yom Tov work even though they struggle with daily expenses. Twenty percent acknowledge the pinch, but they will be able to meet their Pesach obligations with some extra effort to pay it off later.

However, for 9% of families, seeking external assistance has become a necessary step to ensure a respectable Yom Tov. In stark contrast, only a small 7% report managing their Pesach preparations without significant financial strain.

Almost half of the families surveyed expressed uncertainty about how they will manage their expenses. This financial strain has created an opportunity for those who can help fulfill the mitzvah of "Kol Dichfin" by extending a helping hand to families in need. This support will ensure that everyone can celebrate Pesach with dignity and joy.
