Polar Vortex Sends Freezing Air to NYC on Thursday

Polar Vortex Sends Freezing Air to NYC on Thursday

A polar vortex, which is a flow of very cold air that rotates around the North Pole and sends southward jet streams of freezing air, will be causing temperatures to plummet in Boro Park, starting tomorrow afternoon.

“On Thursday, although highs will be in the mid to high 20s, temperatures are expected to dip down to the teens, with the real-feel temperature to be in the single digits,” said Boro Park 24’s Yaker Bigeleisen.

By Friday morning, the real feel temperature will plunge below zero degrees, where the air will stay in the frigid zone from Shabbos to Sunday night, at which point weather forecasts reveal a storm.

Sunday night’s storm is expected to start with snow that changes to rain, before transforming back into a large snowstorm that might last until late Tuesday.
