Owners Of Century 21 Look For Residential Developer To Buy Property

The old Century 21 building, which was a popular shopping destination located on the outskirts of Boro Park, will soon be completely transformed.
As previously reported by BoroPark24, the Century 21 location at 472 86th Street in Bay Ridge closed in 2020, falling victim to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year the owners announced plans to convert the 150,000 square footage space into a new shopping center, but those plans have recently been scrapped. The owners are now looking to sell the building and additional nearby lots to a residential developer. The proposed plan is for a mixed-use development that would include street-level commercial spaces and residential housing above it.
The Bay Ridge area where the lots are located are in desperate need of multifamily housing, which these properties can fill. After the passage of the “City of Yes” zoning proposal, which encourages more housing to be built by reducing developer costs, these lots are perfectly positioned to be transformed into housing for New Yorkers.
