One Surprising Victim of the Virus: Corona Beer

New York – A mistaken connection between the coronavirus and a beer with the same name is leading a surprisingly large number of Americans to look for Heinekens and Coors instead.

Corona beer sales have plummeted in recent weeks as fears over the coronavirus outbreak that began in China overtake the news. An astonishing 38 percent of Americans insist they will not touch Corona beer, according to a survey conducted by 5W Public Relations.

This figure includes 14 percent of regular consumers of Corona, a Mexican-made beverage that is one of the top selling beers in the world. Needless to say, there is no connection between the beer and the virus.

“There is no question that Corona beer is suffering because of the coronavirus,” Ronn Torossian, founder of 5WPR, said in a statement. He added that the brand was suffering. “Could one imagine walking into a bar and saying, ‘Hey, can I have a Corona?’ or ‘Pass me a Corona,’” he said.
