UPDATE: One Person Arrested During Funeral in Boro Park
One person has been arrested during a funeral in Boro Park for failing to follow police order.
Minutes ahead of a scheduled small funeral in Boro Park, police cordoned off the street to keep people from gathering for the funeral.
NYPD remained at the site during the funeral as well, and arrested one person who failed to follow orders and crossed the police line set up in the area.
Following the fiasco at a Williamsburg funeral earlier in the week, the NYPD strategic response group showed up on Thursday in Williamsburg to enforce the social distancing executive order that requires individuals to wear a face mask whenever maintaining social distancing is not an option out in the street.
People violating the order are faced with summonses up to $1,000 or immediate arrest.
Update: The person arrested has been released with a desk appearance ticket.
Terrorizing people by sending in armies of cops during such stressful times is not helpful at all. @NYCMayor - we need real leadership. Stop the chaos now— Senator Simcha Felder (@NYSenatorFelder) April 30, 2020
