NYPD Subway Initiative

The NYPD announced that they initiated a new program to combat crime on the subways.

Starting a few weeks ago, 800 officers were sent to the subway system to be on top of turnstile hoppers and violence on the subways. 

According to the NYPD, the crime rate underground and aboveground has gone down in the last few weeks. There’s been an 80% jump in fare evasion arrests, with 175 arrests between April 8-12. New York commuters are skeptical though, as they report that there are still plenty of people hopping the turnstiles and have never heard of nor seen Operation Fare Play in action.
