NYPD Releases Video Showing Car Thief, Asks Public for Help Identifying Him

The NYPD has released a video of a suspect who reportedly stole an unoccupied Honda Pilot SUV on Aug. 4 at 11:30pm.

Police described the suspect as a white male, wearing a t-shirt and shorts, who looked between the ages of 20-30. The vehicle was parked in the area of 60th Street and 17th Avenue, until the suspect used the key inside the unlocked SUV to take off with the car.

Near 2nd Avenue and 62nd Street, the abandoned vehicle was found the next day, on Aug. 5, but with without the $1,500 worth of cash and other valuables that were left in the unlocked car.

Police released a video showing the suspect near the area of the theft, but not of the act itself. The video was taken by the security camera of a resident whose home faces out onto the scene of the car theft.
