NYPD Chief of Patrol Fausto Pichardo Suddenly Resigns
The NYPD Chief of Patrol Fausto Pichardo abruptly resigned Tuesday because, according to police sources, he was frustrated by Mayor Bill de Blasio's obsessive micromanagement, the NYPost reported.
Pichardo's last straw came when he worked endless hours covering protests in Boro Park the other week only to be scolded by the Mayor afterward, sources said.
The same source reported that the Mayor tends to get involved in issues that fall under precinct jurisdiction, giving his opinion on how to act.
Fausto Pichardo first became a cop in 1997. He held a few high-profile positions before he was recruited for Chief of Patrol by Police Commissioner Dermot Shea in December.
